13 Sep Liposuction vs. CoolSculpting
Liposuction and CoolSculpting are both FDA-approved procedures focused on fat-reduction and can be performed on multiple areas of the body. However, their similarities stop there.
Liposuction is a far more aggressive treatment in every way. First, it is highly invasive; and the person undergoing the treatment must either be under anesthesia or sedation. After the procedure, the recovery time can be up to several weeks, with side effects such as pain, bruising, and swelling. Finally, while the incisions made in liposuction are not large, they will leave scar tissue.
These small scars may not bother you, however, if your goal is to get dramatic results. Liposuction is a better choice for those who wish to remove large amounts of fat, or transfer their fat from one area of their body to another. Liposuction is also the better option for people who plan on undergoing other invasive cosmetic surgeries at the same time.
CoolSculpting, on the other hand, is a completely noninvasive fat-reduction treatment with no recovery period required. There is no scarring after this procedure; as the CoolSculpting applicator rests on a gel pad on top of the client’s skin, there are no incisions necessary. While the client might experience mild discomfort in the first several minutes of CoolSculpting as the fat is beginning to crystalize, they quickly become numb in the area of treatment as their fat cells freeze, and are able to relax, watch TV, or even telework during treatment. Once the treatment is complete, clients are free to go about their lives as normal, and they can even exercise the same day!
CoolSculpting is perfect for someone who is healthy, yet has stubborn fat bulges due to hormones, age, metabolism, or genetics. You’ll begin to see initial results within a few weeks. Full results take 3-4 months to see after treatment. Because the results are gradual over a few months, it will simply appear as though you are losing weight and looking great. Because there are no scars with CoolSculpting, no one needs to know you even had a CoolSculpting treatment!
If you want fat reduction with no surgery, no needles and no downtime, CoolSculpting is the right choice for you.
When comparing the prices of Liposuction and CoolSculpting, CoolSculpting is usually lower. If, however, you have substantial amounts of fat in several areas of your body that you would like to have removed, Liposuction may be a better choice financially.
